MADONNA DI CAMPIGLIO AT A GLANCE
Ski area Campiglio is the collective name for 150kms of marked pistes like Pinzolo and Marilleva – Folgarida with Madonna di Campiglio. The ski area has a unique location with the jagged limestone peaks of the Dolomites to the north and the stunning rolling Italian Alps. To the south from Pinzolo you ski over the Dolomites down to Madonna di Campiglio. From Marilleva/Folgarida you start you ski day in the Alps while in Madonna di Campiglio you have the choice – the Alps or the Dolomites! There are some lively spots in Madonna for the après. Especially at the foot of Monte Spinale and at Grosté. The highest lift will take you up to 2580m and the longest run down is 8km!
Perfect day in Madonna di Campiglio
Taking the bubble up to Monte Spinale from Madonna is a great way to start the day. Wide blue runs drop down to Groste on blue 71 which joins onto route 66! Take the bubble lift up to Passo Groste for some glorious vies over the jagged Dolomites. Head back down to Madonna with the fast, wide long pistes! For the brave jump on the four person chair up to Monte Spinale and take the black piste down to the resort. The Cinque Laghi on the opposite side of the resort is a wonderful intermediate area of long well-groomed red pistes. The Chalet Fiat situated at the summit of Monte Spinale is a fabulous place for lunch.
WHY WE LOVE MADONNA DI CAMPIGLIO
Beginners
Beginners will find very good facilities in the Skiarea Campiglio. There are many easy ski slopes especially in Folgarida, there is a perfect beginner area around Monte Spolverino and Malghet Aut. Magic carpets, buttons and chair lifts taking you to the beginner slopes. There are 50kms of blue runs in this resort making progression easy and capable for all.
Intermediates
There is a vast choice offast blues and tricky reds in Madonna di Campiglio. There are some steeper tree-lined runs down in the Pradalago sector. More confident intermediates also have plenty of options with steeper reds dotted around the resort, the best being on the front side of Monte Spinale, at Cinque Laghi, on the lower part of Folgarida area and over in Pinzolo! Pizolo is fantastic and is a quieter area as it’s a bit further out of the resort centre.
Advanced
Madonna di Campiglio has a number of black runs but the skiing here is generally considered to be limited for advance skiers. The steepest run in the area descends off the face of Monte Spinale and there are also some challenges in Pinzolo area. One thing to remember is off-piste skiing is banned in the whole of Madonna di Campiglio’s ski area!
