CERVINIA AT A GLANCE
Located in the Aosta Valley and on the Italian side of the Matterhorn, this high-altitude ski resort of Cervinia not only guarantees fantastic snow coverage but also connects to the ski resort of Zermatt. The resort itself was an old climbing village and has now grown into this spectacular full-blown ski resort. The cobbled main street is traffic free, with some incredible scenery all around. There are some lovely bars and restaurants which of course serve some excellent Italian food.

WHY WE LOVE CERVINIA
- Sunny, high with snow-sure slopes
- Paradise for intermediates
- Incredible views of the Matterhorn
Beginners
We recommend purchasing the full area ski pass to also access Zermatt – with this there is access to 295kms of blue runs! The wide, rolling pistes that drop down from the Swiss border to Valtournenche are more than in reach for everyone. The Plan Maison ski area is great to build your confidence on the long gentle runs.
Intermediates
Cervinia was designed for intermediate skiers; the slopes are high, open, wide, and mostly sunny thanks to their westerly orientation. This resort has one of Europe’s longest seasons with consistent snow from start to finish. The total amount of pistes is 150km (360km if linked with Zermatt). 31% are blue runs, 58% are reds, 11% blacks.
Advanced
For advanced skiers, perhaps to biggest draw of Cervinia is the scale. With the full area lift pass you have access to 360km which includes Zermatt of incredible skiing. There are lots of wide, open runs perfect for cruising or speeding down. In terms of technical skiing, there is a fair bit off-piste but nothing too challenging on-piste.

Food & Drink
Cervinia isn’t the crazy après ski, but happy hours are very popular amongst the bars, such as Lino’s and Yeti, especially during the spring months when you can bask in the evening sunshine.
Snow rating *****
Cervinia has one of the best snow records in the Alps thanks to it’s location and altitude. The ski season is incredibly long here too so you’re pretty much guaranteed good conditions even later in the season where other resorts might struggle to keep runs open.
